Bilateral relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are developing on an increasing line, Leonid Slutsky, candidate for the presidency of Russia and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia told Azerbaijani journalists, APA reports.

"I greet everyone who sees and hears me in Azerbaijan. I have been living with Azerbaijan in my soul and heart for a long time. I want to congratulate my friend and brother, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev, on the success achieved in the economy of Azerbaijan currently, including the success achieved after the return of Garabagh to the Homeland. Shusha and all other settlements returned home. The bequest of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of modern Azerbaijan, has been fulfilled today," said Slutsky.

The candidate for the presidency of the Russian Federation noted that there is still a lot of work to be done for the return of people to the liberated territories. "I am sure that a peace treaty will be signed soon."

Slutski, speaking about the level of relations between Russia and Azerbaijan, said that he is sure that many important economic projects will be implemented and developed, especially after the visit of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to Baku:

"Azerbaijan is one of the most prosperous countries and economies in the post-Soviet space today. I wish success to Azerbaijan. I am confident that bilateral relations between our countries will continue to grow faster and more effectively."

The Russian presidential candidate also recalled that two deputies of the Milli Majlis observed him at his polling station. He added that cooperation between the State Duma and the National Assembly is progressing with confidence.
