Relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are developing at the level of friendship and close cooperation, Milana Bazarova, Head of Department at the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan, told journalists, APA reports.
She noted that in recent years, multifaceted steps have been taken to advance these relations: “Over the last 8 years, trade turnover has increased significantly, by 5 times. All this has been achieved through joint efforts. Currently, increasing investment opportunities hold special importance. For example, the two countries have started implementing joint projects in automobile manufacturing, textiles, and sericulture. I believe this is just the beginning.”
Eldor Aripov, Director of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies of Uzbekistan, stated that since 2017, 150 mutual visits have been carried out, and over 8 years, mutual trade turnover has increased 8 times.
According to him, the two countries have already started creating joint enterprises: "There are broad opportunities for further development of relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. As you know, our countries have relations rooted in deep historical ties. The great Uzbek poet Alisher Navoi considered the great Nizami as his mentor. Our relations are coordinated by a joint functioning council. Since 2017, 150 mutual visits have been carried out. Over 8 years, mutual trade turnover has increased eightfold. Efforts are being made to expand cooperation in various industrial sectors. Another positive development is that we have already started creating joint ventures. All this has been possible thanks to Azerbaijan’s potential and strategic position. The volume of cargo transportation between the two countries has reached 1 million tons. All this indicates the vast potential for further development of our relations."
