F. Altun extending his congratulations on this occasion in his message described the press as a key element of democracy that delivers accurate, objective, and timely information to society.

Head of department assessing the Azerbaijani press, with its 150-year historical background, not only as a source of news but also as the voice of the people, a bearer of cultural heritage, a defender of freedom of speech, and a powerful voice of the nation congratulated all media representatives who consider it their duty to convey the truth to the public, contribute to the continuation of a fair media culture, and remain committed to the principles of influence and journalism: “At a time when disinformation has reached high levels, I am pleased with the Azerbaijani press’s contributions to the fight for truth, acting with the responsibility of delivering accurate information to the public. The journey of the Azerbaijani press, which began with the publication of the newspaper "Akinchi" ('Əkinçi') in Azerbaijani by Hasan bey Zardabi in 1875, continues with great success. I thank the Azerbaijani press for its true success in conveying Azerbaijan's fair voice to the international community and thwarting systematic disinformation attempts especially during the Second Karabakh War. By defending your rightful struggle with a resounding voice, you have also become spokespersons of the truth. As Türkiye, we have tried our best to support your struggle for truth with great enthusiasm. We have prevented the international community from being poisoned by false and fictional content and disinformation. Thus, Türkiye and Azerbaijan have once again demonstrated the power formed by their unity in the field of media and communication, as in all areas. I would like to state that we are very pleased to see that the cooperation we have established between our countries in the field of communication and media is reflected within the framework of strong historical ties and common values.”

F. Altun emphasized that the media relations between Baku and Istanbul, which began 150 years ago, have been further strengthened by the “Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Cooperation in the Field of Media between Türkiye and Azerbaijan,” signed on December 10, 2020, by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

He stated that the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Media Platform is very important in terms of cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of media and communication, as well as in the development of relations with the Turkic world.

In conclusion, F. Altun said that the strong will and cooperation framework demonstrated within the brotherly relations between the heads of state of both countries support the achievement of common future goals.
