Azerbaijan has become one of the important transport and logistics centers of Eurasia, said Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov at an event themed “Multifaceted cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkmenistan: achievements and prospects,” APA reports.
According to him, the development of bilateral dialogue between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan holds special importance.
The deputy minister spoke about the commonalities that connect Azerbaijan with Central Asian countries, as well as the level of relations in the fields of energy and culture.
Touching upon the celebration of the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries on June 9, the diplomat highly appreciated the mutual support of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan for the principle of territorial integrity, as well as touched upon economic relations:
“Our countries play an important role in the transmission of energy resources through the Caspian Sea. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made visits to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan in 2023-2024. This is a logical result of successful cooperation with the countries of the region. The Strategic Partnership Declaration signed between our countries in 2017 paved the way for strategic partnership. The regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation serve to further expand our relations. Strengthening joint activities for this purpose is important. The Caspian Sea is a factor that unites our countries. Today, Azerbaijan has become one of the important transport and logistics centers of Eurasia. Cooperation in the transport sector between the two countries is successfully expanding. Cargo transportation is carried out through ports in this area. The increasing global demand for energy necessitates broader use of our existing potential. Important work is being done in cooperation in the fields of climate change and alternative energy. Our common interests in combating climate change will serve to further expand cooperation. Cooperation in the field of culture continues. Our cooperation within the framework of international organizations is also successfully continuing. The development of bilateral dialogue between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan is of special importance both within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States and bilaterally.”
