“The violations of the law committed against the peoples living in colonial conditions show that France does not intend to fulfill the UN resolutions,” said Executive director of Baku Initiative Group Abbas Abbasov at hybrid round table discussion and press conference on the topic "Decolonization, international diplomacy and the role of communication in the modern world" held with the participation of a group of journalists from various African countries, well-known bloggers and civil society activists, as well as New Caledonian journalists, APA reports.
He said that providing support to the Kanak people is an immutable principle enshrined in international law: “Our comprehensive and successful activity which we implemented, allows us to inform the world community about the situation in the colonized regions. This activity is often carried out within the framework of the United Nations, Non-Aligned Movement and other international platforms. The Baku Initiative Group, which is leaded by me, has carried out a number of international events to bring to the public the problems faced by peoples living under colonial rule. The violations committed by France in New Caledonia show that the government does not intend to implement the resolutions of the UN General Assembly. Providing support to the Kanak people is an immutable principle enshrined in international law. We believe that the Kanaks' struggle for independence is completely legal."
