The Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan has thanked Azerbaijan for its assistance in the evacuation of Russian citizens from Iran by land, APA reports.
The embassy said that People's Artist of Russia, director Fyodor Bondarchuk and his crew have already crossed the Iranian-Azerbaijani border.
"We would like to thank the Azerbaijani side for providing transportation for the evacuation of Russian citizens and their subsequent accommodation in hotels," the embassy said.
It should be noted that in connection with Israel's airstrikes on Iran, some foreign countries have appealed to the Azerbaijani government for assistance in evacuating their citizens in Iran and returning to their countries via Azerbaijani territory.
A group of foreign citizens began crossing into Azerbaijan from the Astara customs checkpoint this morning.
