"I have been to your great country — Azerbaijan — many times. I have also visited Baku several times. I first came to Baku in 2011, "said Deputy Director of the Center for Russian, Eastern European, and Central Asian Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Yang Jin told reporters, in a statement to journalists, APA reports.
He noted that today's meeting between President Ilham Aliyev and the Chinese Chairman is a highly significant event for the diplomatic relations between China and Azerbaijan.
“Azerbaijan and China are strategically very important partners for each other. Last year, Chinese Chairman Xi Jinping and President Ilham Aliyev met at a summit on Asian corridors, and during that meeting, an agreement was signed regarding a major construction project. That was an important step in the development of cooperation between our countries. This time, the official state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to China is a very notable event,” Yang Jin stated.
According to him, the visit carries strategic importance in terms of the development of China-Azerbaijan relations: “We know that the late President Heydar Aliyev was also a sincere friend of the Chinese people. Everyone is well aware of this. I believe that during this state visit, new and significant agreements will be signed. These agreements will serve to further strengthen the strategic partnership between our countries.”
Yang Jin emphasized that the mutual understanding, trust, and political relations between Azerbaijan and China are at a very high level: “I believe that through this important visit, the sincere and strong partnership between our countries will continue to develop further.”
