Chinese MFA: Relations with Azerbaijan have developed in healthy and stable way

“Our strategic partnership with Azerbaijan is an important stage in the 30-year history of the development of relations between our countries,” said Mao Ning, the official representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs at a traditional press conference, APA reports.

She said that the relations between the two states have always developed in a stable course: “Diplomatic relations between China and Azerbaijan were established since April 2, 1992. For 30 years, these relations have developed in a healthy and stable way. In recent times, the head of our country, Xi Jinping, has contacted the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, several times, and this factor has ensured the rise of our relations to a strategic level. The parties have repeatedly supported each other's positions on issues such as sovereignty and territorial integrity. The volume of mutual trade turnover between China and Azerbaijan exceeded USD 1 billion. At the same time, our countries cooperate closely within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), as well as the United Nations. Meanwhile, it is natural to improve the quality of China-Azerbaijani relations."

The representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry recalled that the leaders of both states announced that mutual relations had reached a strategic level:

“This factor is a new stage in the history of the development of China-Azerbaijan relations. Both parties will take further strengthening of mutual political support for strategic partnership relations, deepening of comprehensive cooperation, including quality implementation of the "One Belt, One Road" project as the main line, implementation of effective coordination in international affairs, as a starting point for the healthy and stable development of China-Azerbaijan strategic partnership for the benefit of both peoples,” – Mao Ning concluded her words.
