The 142nd session of the UN Human Rights Committee will be held from October 14 to November 8, 2024, APA reports.
According to the information, within the session, country reports on the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights of Ecuador, France, Greece, Iceland, Pakistan and Türkiye will be heard.
It should be noted that according to the Covenant, the countries that have joined the document must encourage and respect the right to self-determination of the peoples living in the territories they de facto colonize in accordance with the UN Charter.
As it is clear, France is at the head of the states that are currently pursuing the policy of colonialism and neocolonialism.
The Baku Initiative Group submitted an alternative report to the UN Human Rights Committee titled "The enduring legacy of French colonialism continues to significantly impede the exercise of the right to self-determination: In the example of New Caledonia (Kanaki) and French Polynesia (Ma`ohi Nui)" which exposes French colonial policies.
That report was published on the official website of the UN Human Rights Committee. The report can be found at the following link:
The French country report is scheduled to be heard in the Human Rights Committee on October 22-23 this year.
It should be noted that the Baku Initiative Group, created within the framework of Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, conducts a continuous and systematic tackle against colonialism, supports the struggle of the peoples who are under colonialism and are fighting for independence.
