Consultations on the problems of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization were held in Baku on June 2, APA reports citing the Russian Foreign Ministry.
It was reported that the Russian side was represented at the consultations by Dmitry Birichevsky, Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Azerbaijan was represented by Elmar Mammadov, Head of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At the meeting, views were exchanged on promising areas of cooperation within the framework of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization, and it was also emphasized that the region has the potential for economic growth and development.
The parties also exchanged views on expanding transport and logistics infrastructure, simplifying trade procedures, reducing the environmental impact of energy, and ensuring security in this area, and stated that both countries have a common position on supporting joint projects and initiatives.
During the conversation, the intention to continue the main regional dialogue within the framework of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization, as well as to make joint efforts to reduce the level of politicization of the discussion in order to ensure the effective functioning of the organization, was emphasized.
The Russian side highly appreciated the efforts made by official Baku as the chairman of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization over the past six months.
Officials of both countries agreed to continue cooperation in order to successfully complete Azerbaijan's Chairmanship.
