Baku-hosted Forum features panel session on "Ensuring lasting peace for the revival and preservation of culture in the post-conflict periods”

The 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue included a panel session titled “Ensuring lasting peace for the revival and preservation of culture in the post-conflict periods” moderated by Ambassador Elman Abdullayev, Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Azerbaijan to UNESCO, APA reports.

The speakers of the panel session, including Aktoty Raimkulova, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Webber Ndoro, Director of Heritage Center in the Islamic World of ICESCO, Prof. Ocal Oguz, President of the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO, highlighted the importance of sustainable peace, emphasizing that nations must unite their efforts to protect historical and cultural heritage.

Aygün Attar, Head of Türkiye-Azerbaijan Friendship, Cooperation and Solidarity Fund and Member of Security and Foreign Policy Council under the President of Türkiye, emphasized that after liberating its lands from occupation, Azerbaijan conducted extensive restoration efforts on cultural monuments destroyed in those areas. She added that the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation plans to restore the mosque in the Goçehmadli village of the Fuzuli district as a contribution to this effort. Aygün Attar also addressed the complete devastation of mosques in Karabakh over thirty years and highlighted the destructive impact of the occupation period on Azerbaijan's natural environment.

Reza Deghati, a famous photojournalist and peace correspondent, spoke about the conflicts he witnessed for 45 years, documenting the crimes committed in Karabakh during the last 30 years. The photographer underscored that humanity should know what happened in Karabakh during the 30 years of occupation.
