Organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Syrian Arab Republic, an official reception was held on May 28 of this year in the capital city of Damascus on the occasion of May 28 – Independence Day, the Embassy told APA.
The banquet, attended by the heads and diplomats of diplomatic missions of brotherly Türkiye, as well as several Latin American, European, Asian, African, and Arab countries, representatives of the Syrian Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Internal Affairs, Defense, Information, Social Affairs and Labor, the Syrian Red Crescent Organization, and the Syrian News Agency (SANA), senior officials of the UN Mine Action Service (UNMAS), and representatives of the Reuters and Anadolu agencies operating in Damascus, began with the playing of the state anthems of Azerbaijan and Syria.
At the concluding part of the speech, a broad overview was given of the current stage of Azerbaijan-Syria relations, as well as the meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Syria, and the visit of the government mission led by the Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan to Damascus was touched upon.
In conclusion, it was specially noted that our country is interested in cooperating with friendly Syria in various fields for the benefit of both countries and peoples, supports Syria’s territorial integrity, and the regional and international efforts aimed at ensuring peace, stability, and comprehensive development in the country, friendly Syria and its people were congratulated on the lifting of US and EU sanctions, and wishes for peace, security, progress, and prosperity were extended.
During the event, video clips titled “Strong Azerbaijan,” “Independent Azerbaijan,” “Shusha the cultural capital of Azerbaijan,” and “The spirit of Azerbaijan” were screened.
