Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker met with North Macedonian counterpart

Today, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) Sahiba Gafarova met with Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia Afrim Gashi, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.

First, the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia got acquainted with the plenary session hall of the Milli Majlis. Then, the guests visited the Heydar Aliyev Museum in the Milli Majlis.

Afrim Gashi signed the Commemorative Book.

At the meeting, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova expressed her satisfaction with the development of relations between botch countries in all directions over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, noting that two interstate relations are built on sincere friendship and mutual respect. It was noted that the participation of the delegation of the Assembly of North Macedonia in the 65th General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization within the framework of the visit to our country is of great importance in terms of further strengthening this cooperation.

The Chairman of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia noted that North Macedonia pursues a policy of further expanding relations with friendly countries, and stated that Azerbaijan is one of the countries of significant geopolitical importance in the region and in this regard, they are interested in deepening cooperation with it. Afrim Gashi added that the development of inter-parliamentary relations will also give impetus to the intensification of contacts between governments, an increase in the number of mutual visits and meetings, which in turn will lead to the rapprochement of our peoples with similar history and values and the deepening of relations between countries.

At the meeting, the guests were also informed about the history, structure and activities of the Milli Majlis.
