On April 30, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, as part of his official visit to Kuwait, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) told APA.
During the meeting, the political, economic, trade, investment, energy, transport, communication, humanitarian aspects of Azerbaijan-Kuwait cooperation, development of tourism relations, the current security situation in the Middle East, as well as regional realities in the post-conflict period were discussed.
It was emphasized that the history of friendship and brotherhood between both countries is based on cultural and religious commonalities and is further strengthened by the existing political dialogue between the leaders of both countries.
It was believed that the 3rd meeting of the Joint Commission for Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the State of Kuwait to be held on the same day, would yield effective results in developing practical cooperation between the two countries in various areas.
It was noted that the geographical location of both countries provides an opportunity for the development of cooperation in transport and communications.
The mutual support and solidarity within regional and international organizations, as well as the respect for each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty, were praised. In this regard, the prospects for broad cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council, along with other international organizations, were discussed.
Mutual satisfaction with cooperation during the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) was expressed, and future joint initiatives and potential efforts in the fight against climate change were considered.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also provided detailed information on the current situation and realities in the region during the post-conflict period, the large-scale reconstruction and restoration work carried out in the territories liberated from occupation, as well as humanitarian mine clearance activities.
The Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, existing challenges, and issues were discussed in detail.
During the meeting, other issues of mutual interest were also exchanged.
