The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov has met with the delegation led by Leo Docherty, Commonwealth & Development Office, Minister of State for Europe and North America of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on November 22, 2023, APA reports.
During the meeting, bilateral and regional cooperation, as well as international security matters on the agenda of the two states were discussed.
Stressing that Azerbaijan attaches importance to the multifaceted relations with Great Britain, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov touched on the opportunities to further strengthen the existing partnership between the two countries in the political, economic, energy, security, and humanitarian fields and stated that it is important to intensify the political dialogue in terms of determining the new directions of cooperation.
Additionally, the sides exchanged opinions on cooperation between the two countries in the transport, education, and renewable energy fields, as well as the possible activity of the British companies in the direction of restoration and reconstruction of the territories liberated from occupation.
The Minister also informed his counterpart on the current situation and realities in the region, the large-scale restoration and construction works carried out in the territories liberated from occupation, the mine threat hindering this activity, Azerbaijan’s plans on establishing sustainable peace in the region of South Caucasus and the practical steps taken in this direction, as well as the agenda of normalization with Armenia.
During the meeting, opinions were exchanged in the direction of new cooperation and other matters of mutual interest.
