Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Mahmud al-Mashhadani, Speaker of Iraq’s Council of Representatives, as part of his official visit to Iraq, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
The meeting focused on bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq, inter-parliamentary cooperation, and regional issues of mutual interest.
Bayramov emphasized the historically friendly and respectful ties between the two countries, highlighting the progress in political, economic, and humanitarian areas. He noted that inter-parliamentary ties are a key component of these relations.
He also stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between legislative bodies and increasing mutual visits to foster understanding, stating that favorable conditions exist for expanding such collaboration.
Discussions also covered regional and international security, the situation in the Middle East, and the post-conflict realities in the South Caucasus. Bayramov provided updates on Azerbaijan’s reconstruction, demining, and peace efforts.
Other topics of mutual interest were also addressed during the meeting.
