On May 14, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov has met with a delegation led by Ian Borg, OSCE Chair-in-Office, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Malta, Azerbaijani MFA told APA.
After one-on-one discussions between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Minister Yan Borg, an expanded meeting was held with the participation of delegations from both sides.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided detailed information to his Maltese counterpart about the regional situation in the post-conflict period, Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process. It was stated that direct bilateral negotiations on the normalization of relations between Armenian and Azerbaijani and the signing of a peace agreement are the best approach to move forward.
It was noted that during the past conflict period, a number of OSCE institutions failed to achieve any progress despite having the relevant mandate in the process of resolving the 30-year conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The importance of importance of supporting the demining works and clearing unexploded ammunition in Azerbaijan, as well as accelerating the return of internally displaced persons in the post-conflict period, based on the demand and relevant appeal of the Azerbaijani side was emphasized.
Then, the ministers made press statements on the results of the meetings at the press briefing and answered the journalists' questions.
