On May 1, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received a delegation led by Zoran Dimitrovski, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of the Republic of North Macedonia, Azerbaijan MFA told APA.
The meeting focused on current bilateral and multilateral relations between Azerbaijan and North Macedonia, as well as regional and global developments.
Satisfaction was expressed with the growing momentum of recent high-level visits and contacts between the two countries and the importance of the mechanism of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in continuing and developing interstate dialogue was emphasized.
Cooperation opportunities in the fields of economy and trade were discussed, and it was noted that there is great potential for partnership in traditional and renewable energy sectors. It was also mentioned with satisfaction that North Macedonia has joined the list of countries supplied with Azerbaijani natural gas.
The importance of promoting exchanges in the humanitarian sphere—such as education, culture, and tourism—was emphasized as a means to strengthen ties between the peoples and to add value to interstate relations.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the counterpart in detail about the current situation and realities in the region during the post-conflict period, the progress of the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, and the factors hindering it. It was stressed that, for a final peace agreement to be signed between the parties, Armenia must remove the existing territorial claims against Azerbaijan from its constitution and that outdated institutions such as the Minsk Group must be dissolved.
On the same day, the first round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of North Macedonia took place. The political consultations were led by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev on behalf of Azerbaijan and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Zoran Dimitrovski on behalf of North Macedonia.
