Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia hold 8th meeting of Joint Commission

Today, the 8th meeting of the Joint Commission between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Economic, Trade, Investment, Technological, Cultural, Sport and Youth Cooperation took place in Riyadh, Cabinet of Ministers told APA.

Before the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Samir Sharifov and Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih hold a bilateral meeting, discussing the current state and future prospects of cooperation. Topics include collaboration in the energy sector, expansion of Azerbaijan’s non-oil exports to Saudi Arabia, and implementation of joint tourism projects.

During the Joint Commission’s 8th meeting, opportunities for expanding cooperation in economy, trade, logistics, investment, and other priority areas were reviewed.

At the end of the meeting, memorandums of understanding were signed in the following areas:

  • Mutual recognition of seafarers' certificates;

  • Cooperation in plant protection and quarantine;

  • Cooperation in small and medium-sized enterprises.

It is noted that the Azerbaijan–Saudi Arabia Joint Business Council was established in 2022 to support entrepreneurial initiatives, facilitate direct connections, organize mutual visits and meetings, and promote information exchange between business communities.
