Azerbaijan invites Chief Advisor of Bangladesh Interim Government to ECO Summit

The government mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan, led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elnur Mammadov, has been on a visit to the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elnur Mammadov was received by the Chief Advisor (Prime Minister) of the Bangladesh Interim Government, Mohammad Yunus. The Deputy Minister presented the General Counselor with an invitation letter from the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to attend the 17th Summit of the Heads of member States of the Economic Cooperation Organization, to be held in Azerbaijan on July 3-4, 2025, as a special guest.

Also, E. Mammadov held a bilateral meeting with the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Touhid Hossain.

During the meetings, the Bangladeshi side highly appreciated the Azerbaijan government mission, and matters of mutual interest were discussed.

Within the framework of the visit, the second round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh took place. The political consultations were led by Elnur Mammadov, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, and on the other side, by the Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh, Masud Bin Momen.

During the political consultations, the expansion of bilateral and multilateral political relations, the current state and perspectives of cooperation in areas such as economic trade, energy, tourism, agriculture, humanitarian issues, and others were discussed.

Cooperation between the two countries in international organizations was positively assessed, and the importance of strengthening mutual support in multilateral formats was emphasized.

The members of the government mission, including the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Education, the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of Azerbaijan (ASAN Service), and the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO), held a roundtable discussion with the relevant state agencies of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, and cooperation opportunities were discussed. At the roundtable held at the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, representatives of Azerbaijani government agencies gave extensive presentations.

During the visit, Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov also met with the head of Bangladesh’s Foreign Policy Academy and delivered a lecture on "Azerbaijan’s Foreign Policy" to the students of the Academy.
