"We view this visit very positively. We believe it is a significant opportunity in terms of both the current state and the future prospects of Azerbaijan-EU relations," said Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during a joint press conference with Kaya Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, APA reports.
The minister noted that the legal foundation of Azerbaijan-EU relations dates back to the 1990s. “Since 2017, negotiations have been underway for a new comprehensive agreement. Around 90% consensus has been reached on the issues covered by the agreement. Some topics remain open. Both sides have agreed to take practical steps toward resolving the remaining matters,” Mr. Bayramov stated.
