First political consultations were held between the Azerbaijani and Canadian Foreign Ministries in Baku on June 10, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Esmira Jafarova, Head of the Americas Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Canadian delegation was led by Andreas Weichert, Executive Director of the Eastern Europe and Eurasia Department at Canada's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, detailed information was provided about the current regional situation in the post-conflict period, the Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization process, and factors impeding this process, steps taken by Azerbaijan to ensure lasting peace, the landmine problem in Azerbaijan's liberated territories, and large-scale reconstruction works being carried out in those areas.
In conclusion, the parties exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
