At today's meeting of the Agrarian Policy Committee of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, the draft law on the approval of the "Protocol on amendments and additions to the Agreement on cooperation in the field of veterinary medicine between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Belarus dated May 2, 2007" was discussed, APA reports.
The agreement envisages strengthening ties between the veterinary authorities of Azerbaijan and Belarus, taking measures to prevent and control the spread of animal diseases, and developing systems for monitoring the epizootic situation and mutual information exchange.
The document proposes replacing the Office International des Epizooties (OIE) with the World Organisation for Animal Health.
Note that the "Protocol on amendments and additions to the Agreement on cooperation in the field of veterinary medicine between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Belarus dated May 2, 2007" was signed in Baku on May 16, 2024.
After discussions, the draft law was recommended to the plenary session of the Milli Majlis.
