"There is particularly a biased attitude towards Muslims in the media. We witnessed this during the Patriotic War," said the representative speaking on behalf of Muhammad bin Abd Rabbo Al-Yami, Assistant Director General and General Supervisor of the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA) during the panel titled "Islamophobia in Media and Digital Platforms: How Artificial Intelligence Systems Can Perpetuate and Amplify Islamophobic Views" at the international event themed "Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias and Shattering Stigmas" held in Baku, APA reports.
He said that France, in particular, displayed a biased approach towards Azerbaijan, especially during the Patriotic War waged by Azerbaijan: "The same approach has also been evident in the coverage of the tragic events in Gaza. Many Western media outlets have approached the events in Gaza with extreme bias."
"There are political and historical reasons for this. It is as if the violation of the rights of Palestinians does not affect them at all. I believe that media organizations must demonstrate activism and fairness in this matter and portray everything as it truly is."
