"France has historically been responsible for the massacre of thousands of Senegalese and Algerians and has recruited thousands of Algerian youth into its army to strengthen its imperialism. In this way, it has taken advantage of them for its own interests," said Chakib Benhafri, a senior research officer at the University of Algiers, during the international scientific conference titled “Imperial Structure: Colonial Ideologies and Realities” organized by the Baku Initiative Group held in Baku, APA reports.
He emphasized that Algeria has suffered under French colonial policy for nearly a millennium: “France also exploited hundreds of thousands of Muslims. You can also witness in history that French President Nicolas Sarkozy and current head of state Emmanuel Macron spoke out against the peoples they had colonized. French history and culture are filled with colonial elements. Even during World War II, there were states that supported France’s colonialism. The policies of colonialism and racism by the official Paris continue to this day. In 2030, it will mark 1,000 years since Algeria fell under France’s colonial control, which means that Algeria has suffered from French colonial policies for 1,000 years. The education systems of Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia, especially higher education programs, are regulated and implemented by France. By doing so, official Paris wants to show that the African continent is directly under its control."
