"This event will also be remembered for the establishment of the Global South Platform," Melvine Wajiri, representative of the NGO Coalition for Social Development of the Central African Republic, told APA.
"In his address to forum participants, the President of Azerbaijan touched on globally important issues. I was in Azerbaijan from the beginning to the end of COP29 and got to know your country better during that time. I have attended COP events for ten years, but I have never seen a COP that achieved such unity among Global South countries as last year. COP29 in Baku stood out with its specific features compared to previous events.
As for today’s event, it is important for strengthening cooperation among NGOs representing the Global South. The organization I chair unites 10,000 NGO representatives. We must combine efforts with all parties present here to achieve our goals. Therefore, I call on governments of UN member states to support this initiative," he said.
