A year has passed since the return of Gazakh district's Baganis Ayrim, Ashagi Askipara, Kheyrymli and Gizilhajili villages to Azerbaijan, APA reports.
Recall that in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, in order to ensure the liberation of Baganis Ayrim, Ashagi Askipara, Kheyrymli and Gizilhajili villages of the Gazakh district of the Republic of Azerbaijan from occupation, the Protocol of the 8th meeting of the State Commission on the Delimitation of the State Border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia and the Commission on the Delimitation of the State Border and Border Security between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan was signed on April 19, 2024.
In order to implement the aforementioned Protocol, a clarification was made based on geodetic measurements on the coordinates of the border line and a Technical Protocol was drawn up on the results of joint field work, which reflected the Protocol-description of the passage of the relevant border line.
On May 15, 2024, the 9th meeting of the Commissions was held on the border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, the aforementioned Technical Protocol was agreed upon and the relevant Protocol of the Commissions was signed on this occasion.
As a result of the delimitation work, a 12.7 km long border line was determined, thereby ensuring the return of the territories (6.5 square kilometres) of 4 villages of the Gazakh district of the Republic of Azerbaijan: Baganis Ayrim, Ashagi Askipara, Kheyrymli and Gizilhajili to Azerbaijan.
On May 24, 2024, the territories of the Baganis Ayrim, Ashagi Askipara, Kheyrymli and Gizilhajili villages of the Gazakh district of the Republic of Azerbaijan were taken under control by the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
