"In 2024, the total turnover via payment cards issued by banks operating in Azerbaijan exceeded 126 billion manats. This marks a 27% increase compared to 2023," Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, Vusal Khalilov, said at the “Fintex Summit 2025 – Financial Technologies Exhibition," APA-Economics reports.
He noted that as of April 2025, the monthly volume of cashless payments via payment cards is approaching 10 billion manats.
Additionally, in the first four months of 2025, over 67% of the volume and more than 91% of the number of domestic payment card transactions were cashless. This means that nine out of every ten card transactions within the country are now carried out without cash.
