The State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) has invested USD 100 million in the education network in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), APA-Economics reports.
According to the information, SOFAZ invested in "GEMS Education" company on June 17, 2024 as a member of the investor consortium. This consortium was managed by Brookfield Asset Management, one of the world's largest investment companies in alternative investment management.
It was noted that "GEMS Education", which was invested in by the Fund, has the world's largest and most advanced network of private educational institutions for 12-year education. The company was founded in 1959 in the United Arab Emirates. Currently, 170 thousand students from 176 countries of the world study in this private educational network, which has schools in the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, Europe and America. More than 135 thousand students study in more than 40 schools located in the UAE, where the company has a significant market share.
The mentioned investment is the first direct investment of SOFAZ in the Middle East.
