The 153rd meeting of the Executive Council of the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA) was held in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, APA-Economics reports citing the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy.
Orkhan Nazarli, head of Azerbaijan’s State Tax Service and president of IOTA, delivered a speech at the meeting.
Nazarli noted that the Executive Council is working hard to achieve the organization’s strategic goals. He emphasized the importance of the issues discussed at the session and said the decisions to be adopted will be of strategic importance for IOTA’s future operations.
The meeting also covered IOTA's recent initiatives, efforts to improve organizational efficiency, and the significance of joint cooperation among member countries. Common goals and shared values were highlighted.
Further discussions included reports and plans such as the Secretariat’s recent activities, draft Activity Report between the 152nd and 153rd sessions, 2024 Financial Report, 2024–2025 Internal Auditors’ Report, Annual Implementation Report of the 2024 Strategy, and the draft budget for 2025.
During the visit, IOTA President Orkhan Nazarli met with Raigo Uukkivi, Director General of the Estonian Tax and Customs Board. The two sides discussed cooperation in tax administration and the implementation of digital solutions. Both parties stressed the importance of experience exchange and agreed to work on joint projects. Nazarli also invited his Estonian counterpart to attend the IOTA General Assembly scheduled to be held in Baku on June 17–19.
