Azerbaijan discloses its foreign and domestic debt

As of July 1, 2024, Azerbaijan's external debt amounted to USD 5 billion 367.5 million, and its domestic debt amounted to USD 16571.9 million, APA-Economics reports citing the Ministry of Finance.

According to information, in the state budget of 2024, expenditures in the amount of USD 1972.6 million are planned for servicing the state debt and obligations.

Taking into account the operational information provided on the use of funds within the framework of the projects implemented at the expense of foreign borrowing and the main debt payments on the foreign public debt, the foreign public debt was equal to the equivalent of USD 5367.5 million as of July 1, 2024.

In the January-June of the current year, 170.1 million manats were spent on the internal state debt (interest debt), 1100.2 million manats on the foreign state debt (850.0 million manats on the principal debt, 250 million manats on the interest debt) 2 million manats, payment of bank services fee 0.02 million manats), a total of 1270.3 million manats was provided.

As a result of the implementation of the purposeful borrowing policy in the direction of replacing the foreign debt with the domestic debt, in accordance with the increasing the volume of internal state borrowing, supporting the development of the state securities market, forming the medium and long-term yield curve of the state debt and in accordance with the "Strategy for the management of the state debt in the Republic of Azerbaijan for the medium and long term", the domestic state debt amounted to 16571.9 million manats as of July 1, 2024.
