President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy supports the idea of US President Donald Trump taking part in possible negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul, according to the Ukrainian head of state on Telegram, APA reports citing RBC Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to Trump’s statement that he could travel to Istanbul for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. According to him, these are very important words.
The President of Ukraine reminded that he supported Trump’s idea of a complete and unconditional ceasefire for at least 30 days to lay the foundation for diplomacy. Ukraine wants this and is ready to ensure silence.
Zelenskyy also added that he supported Trump’s idea of direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He assured that he would be in Türkiye and hoped that Russia would not ignore the meeting.
"Of course, all of us in Ukraine would like President Trump to be there with us at this meeting in Türkiye. It's the right idea. We can change a lot," Zelenskyy said.
He clarified that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan "can host the meeting at the highest level."
