Erdogan, who is on a visit to Kenya, said that he contacted Prime Minister Binali Yildirim to determine the first steps to be taken after the German parliament’s decision, the Turkish NTV channel reported.

“As a first step, Turkey recalled its ambassador to Germany. After my return to Turkey, we will thoroughly discuss the issue and determine the steps to be taken, and then we will make a final decision,” Turkey’s president stressed.

Turkish government spokesman Numan Kurtulmus said that Turkey does not recognize this decision.

Turkish FM Mevlut Cavusoglu strongly condemned Germany for recognizing the so-called Armenian genocide.

“Blackening the history of other countries through irresponsible and groundless decisions will not help hide the dark pages of its own history,” the FM emphasized.
