Baku-APA. British Prime Minister Theresa May said on Tuesday that the Gulf security is vital for Britain to ensure regional stability and free flow of commerce, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The remarks were made when May addressed Royal Navy officers and sailors on board Britain's biggest warship, HMS Ocean, which was stationed in Bahrain's Khalifa bin Salman Port.

"Gulf security is our security," May said ahead of her speech at the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) summit.

"As we face multiple global challenges and an increasingly uncertain and dangerous world, you (Royal Navy) are vital to protecting our nation's interests and provide a clear demonstration of Britain's enduring security commitment to the Gulf," she stressed.

The two-day GCC summit started in Manama on Tuesday.
