Countries around the world are lining up to work with Europe in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade war policies, said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in an interview with Politico, APA reports.
According to von der Leyen, following Trump's imposition of open trade tariffs that shook global markets, nations are now seeking reliable trade partners in Europe.
“In an increasingly unpredictable global environment, countries are queuing up to work with us,” she noted, emphasizing the growing importance of strong and dependable partnerships.
She also highlighted that the global order is undergoing deeper changes than at any point since the end of the Cold War.
As a reminder, on April 2, Trump imposed customs tariffs on more than 100 countries, including a 20% reciprocal tariff on the European Union. On April 9, he temporarily suspended tariffs for 90 days for some countries to facilitate trade negotiations.
