"Today was an important day for global peace," said Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan while commenting on the outcome of the Russia-Ukraine talks held in Istanbul, APA’s Istanbul correspondent reports.
He noted that following intense diplomatic efforts, delegations from Russia and Ukraine met in Istanbul through Türkiye’s mediation:
“As a result of the meeting, the sides agreed on the exchange of 1,000 prisoners from each country as a confidence-building measure. They also consented to share in written form the conditions that would allow for a ceasefire. Furthermore, both parties reached a preliminary agreement to meet again. As Türkiye, we will continue to make every effort to achieve a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.”
