Rising water levels in the Poladauri River have led to a fatal incident in the Kvemo Bolnisi (Kepenekci) village of Georgia’s Bolnisi district, where Azerbaijanis live in compact communities, APA’s Georgia bureau reports.

A local resident Mowlud Talibov attempted to cross the river with a horse cart when the current overturned the cart. While Talibov managed to escape, the horse drowned. Police patrol was dispatched to the scene.

It is noted that the bridge connecting the Talibli neighborhood of Kvemo Bolnisi with the main part of the village was destroyed by heavy flooding in May last year. Residents say that during periods of rising river levels, they are forced to either pass through neighboring villages or brave the strong currents to reach the village center. Despite promises made by local authorities to restore the bridge ahead of elections, the issue remains unresolved.
