COP is the world’s largest project. Both we and many other countries want it to be held in Türkiye, Türkiye’s Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Fatma Varank told journalists during the conference titled “Linking COP29 and COP30: Diplomacy, Action, and the Climate Path” held in Istanbul, APA’s Istanbul correspondent reports.
She noted that considering the region where Türkiye is located, the country will successfully organize this event, and many countries recognize this:
“Azerbaijan is our friendly and brotherly country and continues the COP presidency. Azerbaijan has also chosen Türkiye to hold one of the events within the framework of COP. We discussed Türkiye’s candidacy process within the panels here.”
Fatma Varank added that Türkiye will continue to compete to host the event, and the final decision will be made at COP31 in Brazil.
The minister emphasized that with Azerbaijan’s special support, Türkiye can benefit from the financial agreements reached at COP29.
