Hungary withdraws from International Criminal Court (ICC), APA reports citing Pravda.
The Hungarian parliament has voted to withdraw from the International Criminal Court, foreign minister Peter Szijjarto said.
"The Hungarian parliament has voted to withdraw from the International Criminal Court. With this decision, we refuse to be part of a politicized organization that has lost its impartiality and credibility,” Szijjarto said.
The decision to withdraw from the International Criminal Court was announced by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in early April. According to Orban, the once nonpartisan organization has now become a political tool and has lost its independence.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Budapest, despite an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court. Orban stressed that the country would emerge from a court that "discredited itself".
