Georgia detains ISIS member wanted via Interpol

The State Security Service of Georgia has detained a member of ISIS who was wanted through Interpol, APA’s Tbilisi correspondent reports, citing the Georgian State Security Service.

It was reported that, as a result of comprehensive investigations carried out by the agency’s personnel, a foreign national wanted by Interpol at the request of a foreign country was apprehended in the city of Rustavi. The investigation determined that the individual had traveled to the Middle East in 2014 and joined the ranks of the ISIS terrorist organization. It was noted that the detainee had combat experience and specialized in preparing explosive devices. The individual is reportedly responsible for critical terrorist activities carried out on behalf of ISIS.
