A large fire has broken out at a substation just weeks after a similar incident caused travel chaos at Heathrow Airport, APA reports citing the Telegraph.
A team of 100 firefighters are fighting the blaze in Paddington where there is a “considerable” amount of smoke, London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.
The crews were called out to the incident at Victoria Passage, NW8, at 5.29am on Tuesday morning. Part of a neighbouring residential building is also alight.
There have been no reports of any injuries.
Videos on social media show large amounts of dark smoke billowing into the sky after what appears to have been an explosion.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Paul Morgan, the station commander who is at the scene, he said: “This is a very visible fire and there is lots of smoke. Residents are advised to keep their windows and doors shut and avoid the area where possible.”

An LFB spokesman said: “Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters have been called to a fire at an electrical substation on Victoria Passage, Aberdeen Place near Paddington NW8.
“An electrical transformer is alight. Part of the roof of a neighbouring residential building is also alight. One of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders is being used at the scene to tackle the fire from above.
“The Brigade’s 999 Control officers have received around 160 calls alerting them to the blaze.”

It comes a month after Britain’s busiest airport ground to a halt after a blaze at North Hyde electrical substation.
Thousands of flights around the world were diverted, leaving tens of thousands of passengers navigating a transport nightmare.
More than 1,300 flights to and from Heathrow were cancelled, with back-up power “not designed to run a full operation”.
