"Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected Ukraine's ceasefire proposal," said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, APA's correspondent dispatched to Tirana reports.
“The European Union and the United States also supported Ukraine’s ceasefire proposal. However, President Putin rejected this proposal. Finally, President Putin suggested holding direct talks with Ukraine,” she said.
Von der Leyen also announced that they are working on a new sanctions package against Russia: “This package includes sanctions against Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2, adding more ships to the ‘shadow fleet’ list, and reducing the price differential for oil. At the same time, more severe financial sanctions will be imposed on Russia’s financial sector. Because we want peace, and to achieve this, we must increase pressure.”
