On 4 June, EU and American officials visited the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP), APA reports citing the official website of EU Neighbours East.
The visit was organised by the Armenian foreign ministry and the management of ANPP, showcasing EU-US support for nuclear safety.
This is highlighted through the recent commissioning of a $3.4 million full-scope simulator designed to enhance safe operations at ANPP, building on an earlier EU donation. Since 2024, the EU has allocated €17.9 million to Armenia to improve nuclear safety and radioactive waste management.
This allocation is part of ongoing cooperation under the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which includes support for aligning Armenia’s regulatory framework with EU nuclear safety standards. Through this, the EU remains committed to Armenia’s long-term energy security and transition.
