Food exports from Azerbaijan rise over 15% in Q1 2025

In January–March 2025, Azerbaijan's food exports increased by 15.1%, reaching $224.7 million, APA reports citing April edition of the Export Review by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication.

Exports of precious and semi-precious stones and metals rose by $46.7 million or 3.4 times compared to the same period last year. Export of ferrous metals and related products increased by $9.1 million or 76.8%, chemical industry products by $21.9 million or 33.4%, sugar by $976,300 or 18.8%, fruits and vegetables by $20.8 million or 15.7%, aluminum and its products by $4.9 million or 10.2%, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages by $724,000 or 5.7%, tea by $74,100 or 5.1%, animal and vegetable fats and oils by $237,900 or 4.2%, and cotton yarn by $22,100 or 0.4%.

Agricultural product exports grew by 12.3%, totaling $170.5 million, while agro-industrial product exports rose by 17.6% to $69.1 million. Combined agro and agro-industrial exports increased by 13.8%, amounting to $239.6 million.

Among non-oil exports in Q1 2025, gold ranked first with $65.2 million, followed by urea ($48 million) and tomatoes ($44.6 million). In March alone, gold topped the list with $25 million, followed by tomatoes ($17.8 million) and cotton ($15.9 million).

In Q1 2025, Azerbaijan exported non-oil goods worth $232.9 million to Russia, $134.3 million to Türkiye, $80.6 million to Georgia, $69.6 million to Switzerland, and $51.1 million to Ukraine. In March alone, Russia led with $82.1 million, followed by Türkiye ($51.5 million), Georgia ($27.7 million), Switzerland ($26 million), and the UAE ($10.7 million).
