Azerbaijan imports more than 900,000 smartphones in 8 months

During January-August 2024, 904 thousand 782 smartphones worth USD 251 million 717 thousand were imported to Azerbaijan, APA-Economics reports citing the State Statistics Committee.

Compared to the corresponding period of last year, this indicator is 12.5% or 100 thousand 855 units in terms of number, and 22% or USD 45 million 527 thousand more in terms of value. Thus, during the first 8 months of 2023, 803 thousand 927 smartphones worth USD 206 million 190 thousand were brought to the country.

The average import price of one smartphone brought to the country during the reporting period was AZN 472. This indicator was AZN 436 in the corresponding period of the previous year.

During this period, smartphones were brought to the country mainly from China (702,814 units), Vietnam (142,934 units), India (55,301 units) and the United States (2,636 units). One product was imported from China for AZN 450, from Vietnam for AZN 581, from India for AZN 394, and from the United States for AZN 1954.

It should be noted that during the reporting period, 888 smartphones worth USD 143.5 thousand were exported from Azerbaijan. The average price of this product exported to the Czech Republic (316 units) and Hong Kong (571 units) was AZN 275.
