SOCAR ready to consider proposals on Baku-Supsa oil pipeline use

"SOCAR is ready to consider proposals from potential partners regarding the transportation of oil via the Baku-Supsa pipeline," said Rufat Gambarov, Head of Business Development at SOCAR Midstream Operations, during the “Caspian and Central Asia Oil Trading and Logistics Forum” organized by GLENMAR Group, APA reports.

According to him, oil transportation via the pipeline is currently suspended due to the prevailing circumstances. However, this route remains attractive for oil producers and traders.

“This is primarily because oil, with its specific characteristics, offers a clear competitive advantage for companies operating oil refineries along the Black Sea coast,” Gambarov added.

This specifically applies to oil refineries in Bulgaria and Romania.

“Therefore, considering the chemical composition of the oil and the existing infrastructure for its refining, this route holds strategic importance in the future. We are confident that the circumstances preventing its current operation will change over time. Once that happens, we, as SOCAR Midstream, representing SOCAR, are ready to consider proposals from potential partners for its future use on behalf of our country,” he further stated.
