Although the integration of renewable energy sources into energy systems is generally positive, there are also some negative impacts and difficulties, said Yusif Garayev, First Deputy Vice President of Azerenergy OJSC, during his speech at the Baku Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the integration of renewable energy sources often causes imbalances in the network, which affects the quality and reliability of energy.
At the same time, it requires strengthening the generation and transmission infrastructure.
“The work of dispatching services is becoming more difficult - hourly and daily forecasts must be more accurate,” Yusif Garayev noted.
In addition, the integration of renewable energy sources into energy systems may worsen the competitive conditions for traditional energy producers in the market environment, which increases investment risks.
“Wind turbines can harm birds and also create visual pollution,” Yusif Garayev emphasized.
