From January to June of this year, Azerbaijan has seen a loss of 23.8 million cubic meters in oil pipelines, which is 37.4% less in annual comparison, the State Statistical Committee told APA-Economics.
During the corresponding period last year, the gas pipeline losses in the country amounted to 38 million cubic meters.
From January to June of the current year, Azerbaijan transported 20,540.7 million cubic meters of gas through main gas pipelines, marking a 1.3% increase compared to the previous year. Of this, 55.6% was transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus Pipeline, which delivered 11,418.9 million cubic meters of gas during the reporting period, representing a 2.6% increase.
For comparison, last year saw a loss of 59.8 million cubic meters in main gas pipelines in Azerbaijan, an 18.2% increase from the previous year. In 2023, a total of 39,283.3 million cubic meters of gas was transported via the main gas pipelines, which was a 0.1% increase from the previous year. Most of this transportation was also through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus Pipeline, which transported 21,800.1 million cubic meters of gas, reflecting a 4.8% increase compared to 2022.
