“The process of creating hydroelectric power stations on the rivers formed in the Lesser Caucasus Mountains range is underway systematically. In the last year, hydropower plants were built in nine locations,” Teymur Abdullayev, head of the Public Relations Center of "Azerenergy" OJSC said this in his statement to journalists, APA reports.
According to him, 32 hydroelectric power stations with a total capacity of 270 MW have been put into operation in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
T.Abdullayev said that the capacity of "Zar" Small Hydroelectric Power Station, which was inaugurated in Kalbajar on September 2, is 4.3 MW, and the capacity of "Toganali" Small Hydroelectric Power Station is 4.1 MW.
“It is planned to produce up to 25 million kilowatt-hours of green energy at the "Zar" and "Toganali" SHPSs, which means saving 5.5 million cubic meters of natural gas and preventing more than 10,000 tons of carbon emissions,” T.Abdullayev said.
It should be noted that on September 2, President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of "Zar" SHPS in Kalbajar and inaugurated the "Toganali" SHPS in Goygol district through the SCADA system.
