BTC transports over 9.3M tons of oil in Q1 of 2025

In January–April 2025, a total of 12,233.3 thousand tons of oil were transported via pipelines in Azerbaijan, marking a 4.3% decrease compared to the same period last year, APA-Economics reports citing the State Statistics Committee.

Of this volume, 76.1% — or 9,314.7 thousand tons — was transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) export pipeline, down 3.04% year-on-year.

Of the oil carried via BTC, 83% (7,731.5 thousand tons) originated from Azerbaijan — a 0.7% decrease — while the remaining 17% (1,583.2 thousand tons) came from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, down 13.1%.

For comparison, 38,752.1 thousand tons of oil were transported via pipelines throughout 2024, 76% of which — or 29,470.9 thousand tons — passed through BTC, a 2.4% decline from the previous year.
